Tandem skydiving in Thailand and India

Falling is the easy part

A tandem jump asks nothing of you. You arrive, you sign a form, you spend twenty minutes with the instructor strapped to your back learning one body position, and then you are at 13,000 feet with the door open. Freefall lasts about forty-five seconds. Under canopy it is another five minutes, quiet, with the view opening beneath you.

Choose Pattaya for a tandem over the Gulf of Thailand, or Mount Abu for a tandem in Rajasthan, India.

Where to start with skydiving

Where you can do it

What you are wearing

All of it is provided and all of it is checked twice before you board — once by the instructor who packed it and once by the instructor jumping with you.

Main and reserve

Two parachutes, always. The reserve is packed and certified by a rigger, and an automatic activation device will deploy it for you if it ever needs to.

Harness and container

The tandem harness attaches at four points and is tightened by the instructor before you walk to the aircraft, then again in it.

Altimeter

Worn on the wrist. On a tandem the instructor flies the jump, but you will be shown how to read it.

Camera, if you want one

Shot by a second jumper flying alongside you, not on a stick. Added to the Deluxe and VIP packages.
